Questions
Which card issuers work?
The tool doesn’t depend on a specific issuer. It reads text-based PDF statements that have a table of dates, descriptions and amounts. Results depend on the layout, so check the preview table against your statement before downloading. RowSmith is not affiliated with any card issuer.
Are payments and purchases separated?
In the standard layout, every transaction gets one signed Amount column, with money out as negative numbers, plus a Balance column when the statement has one. Choose the YNAB layout if you want separate Outflow and Inflow columns.
Is the file uploaded?
No. Your PDF is opened and read by JavaScript in your own browser, and the file never leaves your device. During the free beta, nothing about your file or its transactions is sent to our server.
What about multi-page statements?
Yes. Transaction tables that continue across pages are joined, and repeated page headers are skipped.
Why does the first Excel download load a file?
The first time you download Excel, the page loads our spreadsheet library from this same site. No statement data is sent; your file is still read and converted only in your browser.
RowSmith is an independent tool and is not affiliated with any bank.
